The largest carriers are preparing for further expansion. The results slightly exceeded the forecasts of the Civil Aviation Authority, which predicted that Polish airports would receive 39 million travelers over the past year. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Poles realize their dream of flying,\u201d- says the newspaper \u201cDziennik Gazeta Prawna\u201d. On average, residents of Poland travel by air twice as often as in 2010. But there is still a significant difference between Poland and the countries of Western Europe, where each inhabitant has three to four flights a year.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, unexpectedly large – as much as 22 percent – was the growth of passenger traffic at the airport named after Chopin in Warsaw, which served 15.75 million passengers. Head of the State Enterprise of Airports Mariusz Shpakowski points out that the transit traffic is increasing, primarily thanks to the Polish LOT company. Almost one fourth of the passengers are those who go on other flights.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
