This was reported at the Office of Foreigners. The status of refugee or other form of protection was received by 520 people, mostly Ukrainians, Russians and citizens of Tajikistan.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times\\ New\\ Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The spokesman for the Office for Foreign Affairs, Yakub Dudzyak, said that citizens who met the criteria for granting one form of international protection were primarily: Ukraine (276 people), Russia (87 people) and Tajikistan (35 people).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times\\ New\\ Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">In addition, 227 foreigners were granted permission to tolerant or consent stay for humanitarian reasons (so-called national protection).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times\\ New\\ Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Dudziak noted that just over a half of foreigners (57%) filed a petition for the first time. One statement concerned an average of two people, while in the case of Russian citizens &#8211; three people. About half of the applicants are children.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times\\ New\\ Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The main forms of international protection are refugee status and additional protection. A foreigner is granted for international protection if in the country of his origin he is faced with persecution or there is a real risk of loss of life and health. This issue in Poland is governed by the law on the protection of foreigners in the territory of the Republic of Poland.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times\\ New\\ Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Last year, 2,1 thousand of foreigners received negative decisions, and 3 thousand proceedings were stopped (53%). This is the case if a foreigner is not interested in continuing the procedure in Poland and leaves the country (most often going to Western European countries).
