In Uzhgorod, the office of the Hungarian community was set on fire

The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration accused the members of the Polish right-wing radical “Phalanx” in an attempt arson of the Hungarian organization’s office. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to Polish Radio.

In Uzhgorod, on Tuesday night, a fire occurred in the building of the regional office of the Transcarpathian Hungarians of the KMCS. This is written by the “Ukrainska Pravda” with reference to the National Police Office in the Transcarpathian region.

According to the police, a message about a fire at the office was received at 3 am.

Nobody was injured by the fire. The amount of damages is being calculated. According to this fact, criminal proceedings were opened.

Local edition Mukachevo.net with reference to sources in law enforcement agencies reports that about 25 square. m. pf the premises were burned, and the fires preceded the explosion near the building of KMKS. Probably, it was Molotov’s cocktail, thrown into the window.

The incident was strongly condemned by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin.

“I strongly condemn the next provocation in Uzhgorod against the premises of the Hungarian minority. System and similarity of provocateurs actions testifies to the external trace. We will not leave our Hungarians alone! Together, we will oppose the attempts to destabilize Transcarpathia!”- wrote the head of the Ukrainian diplomacy on his Twitter page.

Recall this is the second attempt to set on fire the KMCS office in Uzhgorod. On February 4, the intruders also threw a bottle with a flammable mixture in the window of the building.

Then the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Gennady Moskal said that two people in Poland, members of the right-wing radical organization “Phalang” who fought on the side of the “DPR” and “LNR”, attempted the arson.

According to Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, the complication of relations between Ukraine and Poland, as well as Hungary, is “directed” by Russia.

The Transcarpathian region has a 150,000 Hungarian minority. There is a continuing conflict between Budapest and Kyiv on the Ukrainian law on education, which, according to Hungary, violates the rights of national minorities in their mother tongue education.
