Putin says Russia has no plan to attack Poland
Russian leader Vladimir Putin has said Moscow has no interest in expanding its war in Ukraine to other countries such as Poland and Latvia, according to reports. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to “Polskie Radio”.
In his first interview with an American journalist since Russia invaded Ukraine nearly two years ago, Putin said this week that Western leaders had come to realize it was impossible to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia and were wondering what to do next, the Reuters news agency reported.
“We are ready for this dialogue,” he said, as quoted by Reuters.
Putin made the comments in a more than two-hour interview with conservative talk-show host Tucker Carlson that was conducted in Moscow on Tuesday and aired on Thursday, according to Reuters.
Asked if he could imagine a scenario in which he would send Russian troops to NATO member Poland, Putin replied: “Only in one case, if Poland attacks Russia. Why? Because we have no interest in Poland, Latvia or anywhere else. Why would we do that? We simply don’t have any interest.”
Putin said in December that Moscow had no plans to attack the NATO military alliance, dismissing remarks by US President Joe Biden that Russia would attack a NATO country if it won the war in Ukraine.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
