Norway escalates military aid to Ukraine with additional NASAMS and artillery support

Norway has pledged an additional NOK 335 million (USD 31 million) worth of National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS) to bolster Ukrainian air defenses against Russian attacks. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to “Polskie Radio”.

Norwegian Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram emphasized the critical need for air defense in Ukraine, stating, “Air defense is vital to Ukraine, and the country is asking for more systems to fend off Russian attacks.”

During a meeting in Oslo with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced the additional support, including co-financing for European efforts to boost artillery shell and missile production for Ukraine.

“When it comes to military support, Norway will now be providing more air defense equipment to protect Ukrainian cities against the Russian attacks,” Støre said.

Norway is also increasing its contribution to a European effort to boost production of artillery shells and missiles, raising industry support to NOK 950 million (USD 90 million).
