Today, April 19, marks the 240th anniversary of the illegal annexation of Crimea by the Russian Empire.
240 years of the Russian yoke.
The indigenous people of Crimea have been persecuted and demolished for 240 years.
240 years of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.
During these 240 years, the Crimean Tatars from a population of several million people turned into a numerical minority in their historical homeland, and from 1944 to 1989 they did not have the right to live on their land at all.
During these 240 years, monuments of cultural heritage, language, culture, toponyms, and traditions were destroyed.
And if anyone still doubts, I will remind you that Russia is a colonizer and an invader.
Today, Russia is trying to destroy Ukraine and, if the colonizer is not stopped, no one knows how many other peoples in the world may suffer.
