“RZECZPOSPOLITA”: POLES ARE INCREASINGLY MARRYING UKRAINIANS

More and more citizens of Poland marry foreigners. Mostly these are Polish-Ukrainian marriages. It is reported by Upmp.news with the reference to the Polish Radio website.

According to the Chief Statistical Office in recent years, the number of marriages between Poles and citizens of other countries has increased by almost 38 percent – in 2015 there were 3367, and in the following year – 4662. The demographer from the University of Ludza, Mr. Shukulsky, explains that the most frequent cases are the marriage men of Polish nationality with women who are citizens of other states. In a study of the scientist it is indicated that the first came Polish-Ukrainian marriages. In 2011, they concluded 298, 2013 – 424, 2015 – 573, and 2016 – 782. The newspaper notes that besides Ukrainian women, Polish men are happy to marry Russians and Belarussians: in 2016, such cases were, respectively, 107 and 99.

It is interesting to note that in Poland the number of spouses among Ukrainian citizens is growing rapidly. In 2010 there were only 10,in 2015 – already 49, and 68 in 2016. “This shows that eastern immigrants are getting accustomed in our country”, – says Professor Shukal’skiy.

Marital statistics partially coincide with the number of applications made by entrepreneurs about the intention to hire an employee from abroad. Everything points out that next couple of years the number of such couples will increase. According to demographers, the number of marriages with foreigners reached the highest level in 5-6 years from the moment when their mass arrival to the country began.
