“Rzeczpospolita”: Gazprom is on the path of the war with Ukraine
Gas tensions are increasing between Russia and Ukraine. Gazprom wants to break contracts, and Ukraine buys gas from Poland. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to Polish Radio.
The Polish edition of “Rzeczpospolita” cites the words of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko: Russians expect that the Ukrainian side will start using transit gas. However, as the head of state said: Ukraine is a reliable partner; Russia’s transit of gas to Europe is in no danger. The diary describes the situation that has developed after reducing the pressure of raw materials at the entrance to the transit gas mains of Ukraine. Kyiv has announced temporary restrictions for domestic gas recipients. Instead of Gazprom, Naftogaz buys gas in Poland. On March 2, an agreement on gas supplies by the end of this month was concluded with Polish Oil and Gas (PGNiG).
“The situation in Ninshina showed that our decision to diversify supply sources was correct. Due to partners from Poland, Moscow’s next attempt to use gas as a political weapon against Ukraine failed. I hope that the EU member states will take this situation into account before making a final decision on the North Stream-2,” said Andrei Kobolev, General Director of Naftogaz.
“Solidarity in the field of energy and good cooperation with neighboring states is our duty,” said the head of the company, Polish Oil and Gas Ministry Pyotr Voznyak, pointing out that this is important especially now, when Ukraine does not receive gas from Russia, and the needs for this area is growing due to the low temperature. “We are ready to increase the supply or extend the term of the contract with Naftogaz, depending on the needs of the Ukrainian market”, – declared Piotr Wozniak.
According to Rzeczpospolita, the European Commission and the White House have joined the dispute between Russia and Ukraine in resolving the dispute.
