ANDRZEJ DUDA CALLED FOR THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INDEPENDENCE OF POLAND TO BE CELEBRATED
Polish leader highlighted the importance of local initiatives to celebrate the anniversary of the independence. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to Polish Radio.
The President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, took part in the opening of the exhibition “Independent. Parents of Independence” in the city of Ciechocinek in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship in northern Poland. The head of state also placed flowers at the monument to Romuald Trauguttu, the last leader of the January uprising, who became the symbol of this breakthrough 155 years ago.
On this occasion, the head of Poland said about the desire that the Poles remember the local heroes who had contributed to the struggle for independence in 1918. According to President Andrzej Duda, young people must learn the history of their heroes’ lives, and this requires local action. “I urge the self-governing authorities to ensure that such local exhibitions that commemorate the 100th anniversary of the return of independence and other initiatives – monuments, streets – to be as wide as possible. To make everyone in Poland feel 100 years of independence, this is an extremely important moment for us, that it is a great thing to have a homeland,” said Andrzej Dud, President of Poland.
On Tuesday, January 23, the President of Poland Andrzeja Duda will take part in the 48th World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
