ANDRZEJ DUDU: EVERY ATTEMPT TO BUILD AGGRESSIVE POWERS IS A VIOLATION OF INTERNATIONAL LAW
The Polish President took part in the UN Security Council debate on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to Polish Radio.
“Poland considers it unacceptable that chemical weapons are still used”, said Andrzej Dudu. The Polish President took part in the debate on the UN Security Council.
The debate on the issue of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction was organized by Kazakhstan, which currently manages the work of the UN Security Council.
The Polish leader, during his speech, said that the situation in North Korea and “breach of the guarantees received by Ukraine under the Budapest memorandum” show that the program of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons is more relevant than ever. Andrzej Duda added that this concerns both military nuclear capabilities, chemical and biological weapons as well as the use of ballistic missiles. The President of Poland added that chemical weapons were used in the 80s of the last century, as well as now in Syria.
The President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, called in his speech to international solidarity. This solidarity requires the observance of international law. According to Duda, the very preparation for aggression is already a violation of this right:
“Not only aggression, but every attempt to build aggressive capacities and opportunities should be seen as violations of international norms. As such behavior leads to the erosion of the noble idea of peaceful coexistence of states.”
Since the beginning of January, Poland is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Its membership will last for two years. In May Warsaw will manage the work of the UN Security Council. 15 countries took part in today’s debate, Andrzej Duda sat near the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov.
