POLAND SUPPORTS THE PRIORITIES OF BULGARIA, WHICH PRESIDES OVER THE COUNCIL OF THE EU

On Monday, January 15, Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Chuputovych arrived in Bulgaria. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to Polish Radio.

Foreign Minister Jacek Chuputovych declared that Poland would support the priorities of Bulgaria, which, from the beginning of January, presides over the Council of the European Union. The new head of the Polish Foreign Ministry arrived in Sofia with the first official foreign visit. At a press conference after meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, Ekaterina Zakharieva, the Polish minister stressed that the desire to push for cooperation with the region of the Western Balkans is support worthy.

Poland fully supports the priorities of the Bulgarians of the entire presidency (in the Council of the EU – Ed.), especially the activity aimed at intercepting relations between the European Union and the Western Balkans. Bulgaria is now the main state of our region, so all the other states should support its policies. I will say clearly: Bulgaria’s success in implementing its presidency will also be Poland’s success,” said Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Chuputovych.

Last week in Sofia, in the presence of the leaders of the European community and representatives of Bulgaria, the presidency of this country on the Council of the European Union was solemnly opened. Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said that the list of tasks scheduled for the six-year period covers migration, the situation in the East, the cyber security and the Western Balkans.

After the visit to Bulgaria on Monday, the next day, Foreign Minister Jacek Chuputovych continues his trip abroad and plans to visit Germany. And on Thursday, together with President Andrzej Duda, he will take part in the UN Security Council meeting in New York. Since the beginning of January, Poland has received the status of a non-permanent member of this council for 24 months.
