“When we were announced in the beginning and they told that Justin Henin and Vinous Williams were the only ones who defended the title here, I said to myself: “Yes, come on, you must do it.” It was good for me, it’s a motivation.

The first set was hard today, I passed through the difficult moments, Kasatkina fought, the game was very intense. I just tried to send the ball to the court, to tie a draw. In the end, I was a happy to have coped with the pressure all this week. Daria held a great tournament, I’m sure we will hear about her many times.

How do I win in the finals? Every time I try to perceive it as a challenge, every tournament I have won brings something special. Here it was necessary to cope with pressure and play the way it was needed. I’m glad that everything is in my favor.

Now I will be very busy, I go to Kyiv, where I meet journalists, and then I’m flying to New York for an exhibition match. Then, probably, I’m going to the Indian Wells.”
