Gazprom has announced an urgent termination of contracts with Naftogaz

Russian Gazprom, after defeat at the Stockholm Arbitration, announced the commencement of the termination of contracts with NJSC Naftogaz. This is reported by Upmp.news with reference to Channel 24.

This statement was made by the head of “Gazprom” Alexei Miller, reports “Interfax”. “Gazprom” has to immediately initiate the termination of contracts with “Naftogaz Ukraine” for the supply and transit of gas in the Stockholm arbitration,” – said Miller.

The head of Gazprom added that the decision of the Stockholm arbitration under the contracts of Naftogaz and Gazprom violated the balance of interests of the parties. Therefore, the continuation of contracts with the Ukrainian Naftogaz is economically inappropriate and unprofitable for the Russian Gazprom. The arbitrators argued that their decision was a sharp deterioration in the Ukrainian economy. We are opposed to the fact that at our cost the economic problems of Ukraine were solved,- he added.

Recall that, February 28, Stockholm arbitration ordered the Russian monopolist “Gazprom” to pay “Naftogaz Ukraine” 4.63 billion for failure to supply the agreed volumes of gas transit.

In “Gazprom” said they did not agree with the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration on the claim of “Naftogaz” on contract for gas transit and “will defend their rights by all legitimate means.”
