THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF SSU IN COMBATING RUSSIA LED HYBRID WAR IN IN THE INFORMATION SPACE.

During 2017, the employees of the counterintelligence protection of the state interest in the field of information security of the Security Service of Ukraine suspended the activities of 388 intruders, involved in the administration and moderation of anti-Ukrainian resources on the Internet. According to the press service of the SSU, during the year of 2017, the officers of the counterintelligence protection of state interests in the field of information security of the Security Service of Ukraine found and suspended the activities of 388 intruders involved in the administration and moderation of anti-Ukrainian resources on the Internet.

According to the intelligence services during the year, 43 criminal proceedings were opened against agitators, who worked mainly in Russian social networks distributing materials calling for the overthrow of the constitutional system and state power, mass riots and other anti-Ukrainian propaganda.

Since the beginning of 2017, the courts have imposed 36 convictions against owners and administrators of anti-Ukrainian communities and accounts in VKontakte and Odnoklassniki social networks. Their actions were qualified under Art. 109 (forcible change or overthrow of the constitutional order), art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and integrity of Ukraine), Art. 258-3 (creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The same year, special services suspended the usage of 24 sites in the Ukrainian segment of the Internet by international criminal groups through which coordination of terrorist and other illegal activities took place.

Also SSU suspended the work of ten information sites, created by Russian intelligence agencies in order to spread fake messages within the framework of a hybrid information war against Ukraine. The network of these resources was registered in the names of of Ukrainian migrant workers, whose passports were abducted on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Since the beginning of the year, the SSU specialists have launched large-scale preventive measures aimed at localization of the threats to sustainable functioning of the sites, registered in “GOV.UA” domain zone, allocated for state information resources. According to analysts, more than 2.5 thousand resources of the “GOV.UA” domain zone have been functioning with numerous violations of the requirements of the current legislation. Due to special preventive measures, threats to the sustainable functioning of more than 60 state information resources were prevented.
