The national team of Ukraine in Chorzow lost in a friendly match to the team of Poland

The first rival of the blue and yellows at the November training camp was the Polish national team, which occupies the 18th position in the current FIFA rankings and is five lines ahead of Ukraine. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to UAF.

The date of the friendly match coincided with the national holiday of Poland – Independence Day, so the hosts had additional motivation, which, however, was somewhat offset by the lack of spectators in the stands.

Both teams were in the same situation – the Ukrainians will face the final matches of the League of Nations with Germany and Switzerland, the Poles, who also play in Division A – with Italy and the Netherlands. With this in mind, team formations were formed. Lewandowski and Krychowiak did not get into the application in Kadry, and Stepanenko did not get into the blue-yellows. Malinowski remained in the reserve, and the players who made their debut in the national team only this fall – Konoplya, Mykhaylichenko and Zubkov – started. Among the substitutes, the captain of the blue-yellow Pyatov started the game, while Lunin played in the goal.

The first moment was created by the guests. In the 9th minute after an interception in the middle of the field, the opponent had the opportunity to break through 25 meters from Zinchenko, and he did it well. Skorupsky parried the blow in a jump. Two minutes later, Bokhnevych knocked down Yarmolenko in the penalty area, and the referee awarded a penalty. However, the captain of the blue-yellows from the 11-meter mark punched into the post.

At the beginning of the match, the Polish defense did not perform well in the experimental lineup, and the Ukrainians repeatedly took the strike positions. The hosts forced Lunin to seriously enter the game only in the 24th minute, when Andriy repulsed Plakheta’s bypass shot. In general, Shevchenko’s team controlled the ball well, set the pace, and from time to time successfully applied pressure. Yaremchuk lost a good chance to score, and Zubkov almost reached the ball after a sharp pass from Yarmolenko.

But the hosts took the lead. The goal was illogical – Lunin went far from the goal and could not knock the ball out, as a result of which Piontek hit the unprotected goal.

During the break, the coaches of the blue and yellows made three substitutions, and at the beginning of the second half the guests gave a good stretch. Zinchenko, Marlos and Tsygankov made a dangerous shot, and Kovalenko hit the wall from the penalty spot. But again, the white and reds scored a goal that did not follow from the logic of the game. After a close-range free-kick, Moder, who had just come on as a substitute, scored.

The Ukrainians did not manage to move away from the second missed ball immediately. However, they created another great moment, but Tsygankov scored a little inaccurately. Among the events of the second half is the replacement of Bondar, who made his debut for the national team.

On Thursday, the national team of Ukraine will train at the GKS Katowice stadium, where it trained on the day of the game with the Poles (class starts at 11.30). At 16.00 the team will fly to Leipzig for the match with Germany.
