There is no threat to freedom of speech and media business in Ukraine – Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a meeting with heads of leading TV channels

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with the heads of leading Ukrainian television channels, which was dedicated to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of February 2, 2021 “On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)” on several TV channels. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to Official website President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“It has nothing to do with other TV channels. Today, there is no threat to freedom of speech or media business in Ukraine,” the Head of State stressed.

The President noted that the decision on sanctions has a clear justification due to the funding from Russia and cooperation with terrorist organizations.

Top managers of the TV channels expressed full support for this decision, because, according to them, the TV channels subject to sanctions have long pursued anti-government policies and acted in the interests of propaganda by the Russian Federation.

The participants of the meeting noted that the imposed sanctions are an instrument of the global fight against misinformation and have nothing to do with the issue of freedom of speech and media independence.
