«DGP»: passport cyber attack

The case of the new passport had a wide echo. Ukraine sharply protested against placing in the Polish document the motive of the Memorial to the Lviv eaglets. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to Polish Radio.

A government web page where internet users could vote for or against the graphic motifs of the new Polish passport became a victim of cyber attacks. The publication “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” writes that this happened at least twice. Each time the goal was the same: to manipulate the number of votes. Was it successful? Maybe. The persons responsible for the operation of the page are silent.

It turned out that attacks were conducted from IP addresses, in particular, in Kiev, Mariupol, as well as in Basel (Switzerland), Budapest (Hungary) and Bucharest (Romania). The case of a new passport has had a wide echo in our part of Europe. The authorities of Ukraine expressed a sharp protest against placing in the Polish passport the motive of the Lviv eaglets Memorial.

Some experts raised a question whether the cyber attacks and the tensions with Ukraine and Lithuania regarding the new look of the Polish passport are not interconnected. “Perhaps someone, manipulating with voices, wanted to stir us up with our neighbors, or someone who did not like the motives (illustrations in new passports – ed.), wanted to disown us,” the interlocutor of the newspaper commented.
