POLAND CELEBRATES THE DAY OF THE EPIPHANY (HOLY THREE OF THE KINGS)

President Andrzej Duda together with his wife Agata participated in the procession of the Three Kings in the town of Skoczów. It is reported by Upmp.news with the reference to Polish Radio.

In Poland, people celebrate the Day of the Epiphany or the Feast of the Three Kings. This holiday was restored in 2010, but the tradition dates back to the depths of centuries.

In 650 cities of Poland there was a procession of three kings or magicians (Orszaki Trzech Króli): dressed by shepherds and angels, children with carols followed the “three kings”. It symbolizes the history described in the Gospel, when three wise men from the East came to Bethlehem to worship Jesus.

The leaders of the Polish state also participated in the Saturday street walk. In particular, President Andrzej Duda together with his wife Agata became participants of the procession of the Three Kings in the town of Skoczów. Each city this year tried to add to the tradition some of its own features. In the same Skoczów there was also Polonaise dance show.

Participants of the procession with the Three Kings – Katsper, Melchiora and Balthasar supported charity initiatives, in particular, helping the Poles in the east. This year they collected money for “Wise from the East”. The received funds are intended to support cultural and educational organizations operating along the eastern border.
