POLISH POLICE ARRESTED A UKRAINIAN HACKER WHO FACES 30 YEARS OF JAIL IN THE UNITED STATES

Employees of the Central Investigation Bureau of Poland, responsible for combating cybercrime, in cooperation with the FBI detained a 44-year-old citizen of Ukraine, who was suspected of spreading malware. This was informed by RMF24.

As it is noted, the man was in the searching database of the Interpol. An international arrest warrant was issued against him. The Polish Central Investigation Bureau became interested in him after it became known that a man could be in one of the cities in the south of Poland. He was found in the city of Bielsko-Biała, where he was detained.

Representatives of the Central Investigation Bureau of Poland reported that the detainee was suspected of involvement in an organized criminal group engaged in the spread of malicious software and hacker attacks. Malware tracked and then stolen credit card information. The losses incurred by the criminal group’s activities amount to several hundred million dollars.

A hacker is threatened with up to 30 years of imprisonment. He is currently arrested and is awaiting extradition to the United States.
