Minister for Foreign Affairs of Poland Jacek Chaputovych takes part in a briefing of the UN Security Council in New York. The meeting is dedicated to the principles and objectives of the United Nations Map in the context of preserving international peace and security.
“The Security Council should be a guardian of sovereignty and peaceful resolution of disputes between states, a ban on the use of force in territorial disputes and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms,” said Jacek Chaputovych. The head of the foreign policy office pointed to the effectiveness of the United Nations, in particular, the release of Kuwait from the occupation of Iraq in 1991.
“But we are still dealing with violations of international law,” said Minister Chaputovich. – These actions pose a threat to peace and international security, human rights. Such illegal actions were the dispossessing annexation of the Crimea and the support of separatists in Eastern Ukraine by Russia.” Foreign Minister of Poland expressed concern over the violation of human rights in Syria. Jacek Chaputovich declared that Poland would support the position of the UN Security Council in ensuring peace and security in the world.
