THE MINISTRY OF FAMILY, LABOR AND SOCIAL POLICY OF POLAND RELEASES PAST YEAR STATISTICS

Participation of foreigners in the Polish labor market amounts to 5 percent. It is reported by Upmp.news with the reference to the Polish Radio website.

According to the head of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy of Poland Elzbieta Rafalska, the participation of foreigners in the Polish labor market varies between 2.5% and 5%. In 2017, the community of Ukraine issued 85% of work permits and 95% of declarations, while the total number of employment permits issued to foreigners was about 250 thousand. Among that, foreign citizens because of their intention to work in Poland filed about 800 thousand declarations.
As Minister Elisabeth Rafalsky noted, a few years ago the vast majority of foreigners came to Poland to work in agriculture. Now foreigners are working in such fields as construction, industrial production, transport, trade, and gastronomy. Demand for foreign workers is growing in all voivodships, with the highest number of declarations about the intention to employ a foreigner in Warsaw, Wroclaw and Poznan.
The Minister reminded that with the beginning of the year new rules of employment of foreigners entered into force. Having registered permits for seasonal work, foreigners can work in Poland for 9 months in a calendar year. Documents are issued for industries such as agriculture, horticulture, tourism and gastronomy, and cost 30 zlotys.
