AMBASSADOR OF POLAND IN UKRAINE MET WITH FAMILIES OF UKRAINIAN CAPTIVES FROM THE DONBAS

Jan Piłkow promised the families of Ukrainian prisoners an opportunity to tell about the tragic fate of their relatives in the EU forum. It is reported by Upmp.news with the reference to Polish Radio.

At the Polish Embassy in Kiev, a meeting with families of Ukrainian prisoners who were held captive by separatists in the Donbass took place. Family members met with Polish diplomats. Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine Jan Piłkow promised them an opportunity to tell their tragic stories at the forum of the European Union.

Recently, prisoners were exchanged between Kiev and pro-Russian separatists and Russian militants from the Donbas. However more than 100 Ukrainian civilians and military, including Major Sergei Ivanchuk are still held by militants supported by Russia. Ivanchuk`s wife, together with a dozen other representatives of the families of prisoners, met with the Polish ambassador to Ukraine.

She said she had no contact with her husband. The woman added that she saw him only in interrogation videos that the separatists published on the web. “The video shows that the man was beaten, he has a fixed arm, his face is covered with bruises,” – said the wife of the Ukrainian military.

Jan Piłkow suggested the members of the families of Ukrainian prisoners to tell about the fate of their captive relatives at the forum of the European Union in Brussels. The Polish diplomat announced that he would address this idea to the Polish MPs so that as many people as possible will get to know about the fate of the captives on the Donbass.

At the end of last year, separatists released 74 Ukrainians during the exchange of prisoners. The Ukrainian government promised to make efforts to release the remaining civilians and soldiers held in prisons by pro-Russian terrorists and militants in the Donbass.
