Gazprom has lost to Naftogaz

The Ukrainian company won a historic litigation with a Russian gas monopoly in the gas transit business. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to Polish Radio.

The Ukrainian state-owned company Naftogaz reports that the Arbitration Court in Stockholm issued a verdict in its favor in a lawsuit with Gazprom, a Russian gas monopoly. Naftogaz received compensation of $ 4.63 billion for Gazprom’s lack of gas supplies for transit, said the statement of the Ukrainian company. Gazprom has not yet commented on this decision by the Stockholm Arbitration.

The trial for the transit of gas to Europe over the territory of Ukraine lasted for a year. Naftogaz demanded compensation in the amount of 15 billion dollars.

In mid-2014, Naftogaz appealed to an arbitration tribunal to establish a fair price for gas delivered to Ukraine by Russia. Then Gazprom filed a lawsuit against a Ukrainian company. Moscow wanted from Kiev to return the debt for allegedly illegally selected by Naftogaz gas transit volumes.

Then the Stockholm Arbitration decided that Naftogaz would pay Gazprom an arrears of approximately $ 2 billion for the supplied gas. As a result of the latest verdict, the Ukrainian company will receive from the Russians as a result, 2.56 billion dollars.
