THE VERKHOVNA RADA URGED NOT TO RECOGNIZE THE ELECTION OF THE RUSSIAN PRESIDENT IN THE CRIMEA

Deputies appealed to the parliaments of foreign states and parliamentary assemblies of international organizations regarding the condemnation of the RF election in the territory of the occupied Crimea, reports Espreso.tv.

On March 1, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the resolution “Appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the international community in connection with the preparation of illegal elections of the President of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied part of the territory of Ukraine – in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol”.
The appeal notes that holding the presidential election in Crimea is a gross violation of the Constitution and legislation of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the leader of the “Narodny Front”, Arseniy Yatseniuk, said that holding the presidential election in Crimea is a violation of human rights and another crime against the sovereignty of Ukraine and international law should be the basis for additional sanctions against the invaders in the Crimea.
“We must also remember that the illegal conduct of Putin’s election in Crimea means a loss of its legitimacy in general,” Yatsenyuk said.
