UKRAINIAN FOOTBALL PLAYER TARAS ROMANCHUK RECEIVED POLISH CITIZENSHIP

The 26-year-old midfielder of the Polish “Jagiellonian-Bialystok” has filed documents on granting him Polish citizenship a year ago. It is reported by Upmp.news with reference to Polish Radio.

Taras Romanchuk was born in Kovel , Ukraine. Hr has been playing football in Poland since 2012. He originally represented the “Legionium” club in the city of Lignoniovo in central Poland, and has been playing “Jagiellonian” in Bialystok in the east for four years. Now the Ukrainian is one of the main midfielders of this club.

By submitting documents on granting him Polish citizenship, Taras Romanchuk referred to the history of his family: the protagonists of the footballer lived in Poland before the Second World War, and settled in Ukraine as a result of mass resettlement and change of borders. His petitions were considered positively and, according to the club “Jagiellonia-Bialystok”, on March 2, the Podlaskij voivode will hand over relevant documents to Taras Romanchuk.

I was very surprised when I found out about it. On the one hand, he was waiting for a message in this case, and on the other – when he had already received it, he was in a certain shock. Undoubtedly, I am very happy that the time and energy devoted not only by me but also by the people from the club who helped me prepare all the documents were not useless,” the footballer said.

Thanks to the provision of Polish citizenship to Taras Romanchuk, his team will have the opportunity to take on a player from outside the European Union.
