The US State Department approved the proposed sale of $ 47 million worth Javelin anti-tank missiles and rocket launchers. This is stated in a message of the Pentagon on March 1, – informs Radio Liberty.

The Javelin system will help Ukraine build its long-term defense potential to protect sovereignty and territorial integrity in order to meet the requirements of national defense,” the Pentagon said in a statement.

The agency said that the proposed sale would not affect the military balance in the region.

The agency for defense cooperation said that the government of Ukraine has requested 210 units of missiles and 37 launches in the United States. The agreement will include training, technical assistance, transport and other aspects of logistics.

The US defense budget for the fiscal year 2018 includes providing Ukraine with $ 350 million in defense aid, including the possibility of transferring lethal weapons.

Javelin is an American portable anti-tank missile system (PPRK) intended to damage armored vehicles, tanks, and UAVs, helicopters and landing gear propellers. The cost of one complex, complete with 6 missiles, is more than a million dollars.
